OUR SOLUTION APPROACH - Service Oriented Architecture
Companies and organizations today are continually being called upon to perform more efficiently. These efficiencies may be gained through various types of business solutions: offshore manufacturing, outsourced call centers, highly-integrated relationships with suppliers and partners or the deployment of an ERP system. All of these approaches require that IT organizations expose their internal systems to other systems that were never designed to communicate with each other. MPS Partners believe that establishing an interoperability infrastructure for systems is a critical requirement for success in today’s business environment.
Interoperability occurs at several levels:
- Application or knowledge exposure - back office or line of business systems exposing information to a wider audience via a portal or web site
- Analysis and insight - transactional data being exposed outside the walls of a mainframe or ERP system to a broad group of end users or analysts
- Composite Applications - combining unrelated applications into a single application designed to meet a more precise, differentiating business requirement
- Creating a partner ecosystem - exposing corporate information and applications to a network of partners, customers, or vendors
To MPS Partners, Service Oriented Architecture is not an “ivory tower” exercise on how to re-invent IT. Rather it is a pragmatic approach based on two key principles. First, magnify the value of your existing systems by exposing them to a greater population of users or consumers. And second, use standards such as web services and XML to create an environment where interoperability is possible without dramatic new investments. We call this approach “SOA by opportunity”. SOA by opportunity establishes guiding principles for when to use an SOA based approach and as well as establishing a technical framework for enabling an SOA infrastructure.
MPS Partners has helped complex organizations grow more efficient and reach the goals of their people through Interoperability and SOA. Can we help you too?
