Firm partners with Illinois Technology Association to respond to market demand for insight into the future of cloud computing
Chicago, January 14, 2010 - MPS Partners, a business process management solutions firm, announced today that it will partner with the Illinois Technology Association (ITA) to conduct a series of roundtable discussions on the future of cloud computing. The first of the series titled, Forecasting the Future: The Promise and Reality of Cloud Computing, will be held January 21 in Chicago.
Cloud computing describes a new delivery model for information technology (IT) based solutions on the Internet. Typically, cloud computing providers deliver common business applications online. Companies access those applications from a Web browser, while software and data are stored on servers. Essentially, cloud computing shifts responsibility for application maintenance and development from the business user to the service provider.
In a pulse survey conducted by MPS Partners in partnership with Microsoft about the future of cloud computing, Midwest businesses responded as curious and interested in understanding if and when they should shift investment into this new method of IT delivery. The quarterly pulse survey indicated that only 25 percent of companies are actively engaged in cloud computing even though a clear majority (66 percent) expect cloud computing to revolutionize the industry.
"Wise companies are monitoring advancements in cloud computing to maximize their own timing and investments in this new way of acquiring IT functionality. Because of our early efforts, we look forward to sharing insights and examples with them as they evaluate the cloud and determine their most advantageous entry into it," said MPS Partners Managing Partner Bill Topel.
