Pain
A leading provider delivers highly advanced building management and security systems for its customers. To provide a comprehensive solution, its software almost always interacts with existing systems within an organization. These systems range from HR systems like SAP or PeopleSoft for user and on boarding data to low level control systems that manage access to buildings. Being flexible enough to work with these very different types of systems is key to their value proposition.
Vision
Few personnels worked with the Director of Global Security & Fire Solutions to craft a vision of a simple but flexible end user experience backed by a powerful integration solution based on Microsoft BizTalk Server 2009.
Value
A personnel of (BizTalk Server TSP) and Chris Kabat of MPS Partners worked directly with the Director of Advanced Security Systems' Research team to prove out this new approach. Through a series of Architecture Design Sessions, onsite training, and detailed testing, the new Microsoft based solution was shown to perform significantly better than their existing offering and also proved much easier to manage and deploy. Most importantly, Microsoft’s rich set of development tools makes it possible to offer their end customers a simple, flexible user experience
while also dramatically improving their own developer productivity. Java based solutions from both Oracle and IBM were considered but ultimately found to be lacking when compared to our combination of power, performance and price.
Solution
The leading provider has begun a complete rewrite of their system code based on Microsoft BizTalk Server and Microsoft SQL Server to power their entire suite of next generation Security offerings. Working with Microsoft’s ISV Royalty Group, the leading provider will be packaging our software stack in their solution to their many thousands of customers over the coming years!!
